CREATING A PDF FILE
From QuarkXpress 6.0
4. HERE IS THE KEY: These are the parameters for your PDF file. The main tab to be concerned with, is the Job Option. For the most part, you are safest leaving everything at the default settings as shown in the accompanying screenshot ensuring that EMBED ALL FONTS is selected.
The resulting file size may be fairly large depending on the original design but you will not lose anything due to improper compression settings. Keep in mind that it will use the resolutions and color spaces of the original design.
If size is becoming an issue, use the settings in the following screenshot
5. Go to the OUTPUT tab and specify the settings as indicated in the screen shot.
6. Under th OPI tab, sett the following options (usually this is the default)

7.The final step after you select "Okay" and "save" is to open up the resulting PDF file and ensure that it was created accurately. There are a number of reported problems with PDF created from QuarkXpress and so you must ensure that there are no discrepencies before it is too late.
