CREATING A PDF FILE
The intent of a PDF (Portable Document Format) file is a format aimed at a versatile and virtually paperless office. It was designed to be able to share documents anywhere in the world and be viewed, read and printed by anyone with a computer regardless of the operating system and without the need for the recipient to be reliant on having the software the file was created in.
The relatively small file sizes and independance of associated elements, this is an ideal way to transport you files to us for print or simply for review of your intended project.
Also, a properly produced PDF eliminates the most common errors:
- fonts not included
- wrong color space
- missing images or incorrect image qualities
- Trapping or overprint Issues
PDF/x1-a or PDF/x3 standards eliminate many these issues thus reducing production time "fixing" problems that typically slow up the pre-press workflow. However, any resulting PDF file is only as good as the files used to create it.
Below are some basic instructions for creating a PDF file. Please note that exceptions will be inevitable. If in any doubt, do NOT hesitate to contact us for further assistance.
